FOURTH-QUARTER UPDATE: Ellwood City hung on to defeat Mohawk 46-36 at Mohawk Stadium. Yakubik opened up the scoring with a 5-yard run. Malutic ran in the two-point conversion. Ellwood City's River Kelly responded with an 18-yard score, but the conversion failed. Malutic finished off the next drive for the Warriors with a 1-yard score. The extra point was good and the Warriors were down 38-36. Wolverines' Barrett ended the scoring with a 38-yard run and the two-point conversion with 2:33 remaining in the game.
THIRD-QUARTER UPDATE: Ellwood City takes a 32-21 lead into the final quarter. Mohawk tailback Cayne Yakubik found some room and found pay dirt from 6 yards out. Spencer McConahy rushed to the pylon for the conversion to make it 24-21. Ioanilli and Ellwood City responded with a 25-yard run from the junior. River Kelly ran in the two-point conversion late in the third quarter.
SECOND-QUARTER UPDATE: Ellwood City takes a 24-13 lead into the half. Wolverine tailback Norm Ballard found a hole and took it in for the score from 11 yards out. Mohawk QB Ricky Malutic stuck with the 1-yard dive to give the Warriors a 13-12 lead. On the ensuing drive, Ellwood City tailback Nick Ioanilli ran 57 yards for the score to give Ellwood an 18-13 lead. Barrett faked a toss to the left and connected with a wide open Ballard for a 5-yard touchdown pass late in the period.
FIRST-QUARTER UPDATE: Ellwood City and Mohawk are locked in a 6-6 tie after the first quarter. The Wolverines struck first with an 8-yard keeper from D.J. Barrett. Mohawk responded right before the close of the quarter on a 1-yard Spencer McConahy dive into the end zone. Both PAT attempts were blocked.
