FOURTH-QUARTER UPDATE: Wass ripped the ball out of Lindsey’s hands and raced 69 yards for a score 57 seconds into the fourth quarter to cut the Lancers’ lead to 56-42.
Neshannock responded with a touchdown when Antuono scampered in from the 15. Lindsey added the 2-point conversion run for a 64-42 lead with 7:57 to go.
The Panthers answered back with a touchdown. Jason Dambach hit Justin Baust for a 29-yard TD pass. The conversion failed and the Lancers held a 64-48 lead with 7:04 left.
Lindsey capped the scoring with a 2-yard run for a 71-48 lead with 1:24 to go.
THIRD-QUARTER UPDATE: Riverside drove to the 10 to start the third, but Adam Saunders’ 29-yard field goal attempt missed to keep the Lancers’ lead at 42-28 with 9:21 left in the third.
Neshannock capitalized for a touchdown on its next drive. Antuono connected with Scott for a 52-yard TD. The PAT kick failed, which gave the hosts a 48-28 lead with 7:58 left in the third.
The Panthers appeared poised to score on its next drive, but Scott jumped in front of a pass and returned it nearly 60 yards to the 22. Lindsey reached the end zone on a 1-yard run to give the Lancers a 56-28 lead with 3:44 remaining.
Austin Dambach hauled in a 33-yard TD pass from Jason to cut the Neshannock lead to 56-35 with 2:09 left in the third.
SECOND-QUARTER UPDATE: Early in the second, Neshannock fumbled the ball away deep in its own territory. Riverside took over on the Lancers’ 23 with 9:14 left in the half. The guests cashed in on it when Garrett Bishop crashed in from the 4 for a 21-20 lead with 7:51 to go.
Neshannock regained the lead on its next drive when Antuono found Vitale for a 28-yard TD pass. Antuono floated a short pass to Ty Sear for the 2-point conversion to give the hosts a 28-21 lead with 7:29 to play before intermission.
Austin Dambach hauled in his second TD pass from his brother, this time a 32-yarder with 5:11 on the clock to knot the game at 28-all.
A long Vitale run gave the Lancers the ball deep in Riverside territory. Lindsey cashed in from the 6, but the PAT kick failed, which gave the Lancers a 34-28 lead with 3:48 left.
Neshannock recovered a Panthers fumble on its own 40 with 2:32 on the clock. On the next play, Antuono lofted a strike to Chris Scott down the middle and he went 60 yards for a touchdown. Antuono found Danny Welker for the 2-point conversion and a 42-28 edge with 2:23 to play.
FIRST-QUARTER UPDATE: Neshannock took the opening kickoff and drove to the Riverside 3. However, a bad snap on fourth down nullified the march and the guests took over at the 11.
On the Panthers’ first play, quarterback Jason Dambach found brother Austin down the near sideline on a fly pattern for an 89-yard touchdown strike and a 7-0 lead.
The Lancers retaliated 1:38 later when Jonah Vitale broke loose for a 45-yard TD scamper to tie the game at 7-all.
Neshannock forced a Riverside punt and then went ahead, 14-7, on its next drive. Quarterback Frank Antuono capped the march with a 25-yard run with 2:15 left.
The Panthers responded with a touchdown of their own. Jason Dambach hit Ricky Wass for an 11-yard scoring strike with 49.8 seconds left in the opening stanza.
On the Lancers’ first play after that, Robert Lindsey rambled 79 yards for a touchdown. The PAT hit the upright, which gave Neshannock a 20-14 lead with 30.2 on the clock.
