FOURTH-QUARTER UPDATE: Adam Saunders booted a 34-yard field goal to boost the Panthers’ lead to 17-0 six seconds into the fourth. Riverside’s Lance Fisher sealed the game with 4:34 to play. He snuck in front of a pass and took off 58 yards untouched for a touchdown and a 24-0 advantage. Jordan Dantico hauled in a 26-yard TD pass with 1:56 to go to break the shutout.
THIRD-QUARTER UPDATE: In the third, Laurel drove into Riverside territory early in the third, but turned over the ball again on an interception with 7:02 to go in the frame.
SECOND-QUARTER UPDATE: The Panthers pushed their lead to 14-0 early in the second quarter. Austin Dambach cashed in on a 9-yard run. Laurel responded and drove to the Riverside 4. However, the Spartans did not convert and turned the ball over on downs at the 4 with 3:47. Laurel got a break as it recovered a Panthers fumble on the Riverside 45 with 1:32 left in the half. The Spartans drove to the 31, but turned it over on downs once again with 49.4 seconds on the clock.
FIRST-QUARTER UPDATE: Riverside opened the scoring after it recovered a Laurel fumble on the Spartans’ 44. Lance Fisher’s 35-yard run set up LeMarcus Cleckley’s 10-yard TD run with 5:37 left in the opening quarter.
