FOURTH-QUARTER UPDATE: Joe Ermin's 6-yard run with 2:01 remaining sealed Freedom's hard-fought win over Ellwood. The Wolverine offense mustered just one first down in the second half.
THIRD-QUARTER UPDATE: The defenses took over after the intermission with neither team scoring. Freedom pinned Ellwood deep, but sophomore Kyle Crawford's 56-yard punt got Ellwood out of a jam.
SECOND-QUARTER UPDATE: Ellwood City pulled to within a touchdown when Gino Teriani scored on a 3-yard run with 4:36 remaining. The drive was set up by Garrett Thomas' fumble recovery. Freedom had earlier taken a 14-0 lead when Herzog scored from three yards out, capping a drive initiated by a blocked punt.
FIRST-QUARTER UPDATE: Jeremy Herzog's 54-yard touchdown run with 36 seconds remaining gave Freedom the early lead. The drive started after Ellwood's first possession of the season ended with a fumble in Freedom territory.
