Sotter leads ’Hounds past Mercer

Jacob Sotter scored four times to lead the Wilmington High football team to a 49-28 rout at Mercer last night.
The Greyhounds are now 1-0 in the district and 2-0 overall after winning their District 10, Region 1 opener.
Sotter, a senior, scored on runs of 25, 1, 7 and 6 yards as Wilmington jumped out to a 35-21 halftime lead.
Sotter finished with 80 yards on 13 carries.
T.J. Peters returned the opening kickoff 87 yards for Mercer, but Reese Bender answered for the Greyhounds with a 68-yard return of the ensuing kickoff.
Bender, a sophomore, also scored on a 6-yard run and finished with 74 yards on 12 carries.
Senior quarterback Cody Llewellyn was 8 of 11 through the air for 92 yards for the winners.
