Laurel comes out a winner at Springdale

SPRINGDALE — A third-quarter spurt lifted the Laurel High football team to a 14-9 nonconference victory over Springdale last night.
The Spartans (3-1) went into the half trailing 3-0, but scored on the opening drive of the second half on a 2-yard run by Matty Conway. Noah Wertz added the point-after kick.
Laurel scored again later in the period on an 85-yard pass from Josh Dando to Steve Reeher. Wertz added the PAT kick.
Springdale (2-2) scored late in the game on a 17-yard run by Sean Dugan.
Dalton Rosta led the Spartans with 82 yards on 14 carries and Matty Conway added 78 yards on 18 carries.
Dando was 4 for 6 through the air for 103 yards.
