McKEES ROCKS — Montour lived up to its No. 1 ranking last night.
The defending WPIAL Class AAA champions, rated first in the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette once again, rolled up 351 yards in total offense in a 41-0 nonleague victory over Mohawk.
Tynen Greer, a junior transfer from Shenango, got things started with a 16-yard pass to Lucas Parrish with 4:15 remaining in the first quarter. Greer, part of a three-quarterback rotation for Montour (3-0) was 4 for 7 for 42 yards.
The Class AA Warriors (1-2), who compete in the Midwestern Athletic Conference, managed just six first downs to the Spartans’ 22, and had just 78 yards of total offense.
Sophomore Spencer McConanahy stepped in at quarterback for the injured Gio Menichino and was 3 of 6 for 16 yards. He was sacked three times. The Warriors also lost three fumbles.
Montour returns to Parkway Conference action at New Castle at 7:30 p.m. Friday, while the Warriors entertain Riverside.
