MOUNT PLEASANT — Not only is Ellwood City Lincoln High winning, the Wolverines are showing no mercy.
Once-hapless Ellwood improved its record to 3-0 with a 35-0 nonconference mercy-rule rout of Mount Pleasant.
Last night’s win came on the heels of Midwestern Athletic Conference victories over Freedom and New Brighton for the Wolverines.
Visiting Ellwood City held the Vikings to just 99 yards rushing and 109 yards of total offense.
Kyle Crawford bolted 64 yards down the far sideline to give the Wolverines a 7-0 lead in the first quarter.
Quarterback Gino Ceriani’s 12-yard pass to Nick Polka converted a key third-down situation and set up Crawford’s second touchdown of the game, a 6-yard run. The drive was aided by a personal foul penalty by Mount Pleasant (2-1).
Crawford added a 4-yard run in the fourth quarter and Garrett Thomas padded the Wolverines’ lead to 28-0 with a 41-yard jaunt late in the third quarter.
Crawford finished with 101 yards on 10 carries for Ellwood.
Ceriani was 6 of 9 through the air for 93 yards.
Ellwood City returns to MAC action with a home game against Beaver on Friday night.
