’Hounds make most of Farrell turnovers

FARRELL — The Wilmington High football team took advantage of five turnovers by Farrell in a 28-12 District 10, Region 1-A win.
The Greyhounds (2-1 region, 3-1 overall) made the most of two interceptions and three fumble recoveries last night.
Reese Bender got the ball rolling in the first quarter with a 14-yard touchdown pass from Cody Llewellyn. James Gardner added his first of four point-after kicks.
Farrell (2-2, 3-2) countered with a 7-yard run by Terrell Atkins, but the Greyhounds answered with three straight touchdowns, two off turnovers, starting with Llewellyn’s 1-yard run.
Marc Peoples, back from a broken collarbone suffered in the first scrimmage of the season, scored on a 53-yard pass from Llewellyn and Colton Marett followed with a 7-yard pass from Llewellyn.
John Jackson closed out the scoring for the Steelers with a 32-yard run.
Kyle Slicker led Wilmington in rushing with 71 yards on eight carries and Jacob Sotter added 57 on 12.
Llewellyn was 7 of 14 through the air for 134 yards.
Peoples caught three passes for 86 yards.
The Greyhounds host Reynolds on Friday night.
