The Ellwood City Lincoln High football team put it all together Friday night.
The Wolverines thrashed Freedom 49-7 for their first win of the season in a Midwestern Athletic Conference game at Ewing Park’s Helling Stadium.
Ellwood improves to 1-3 in the conference, 1-3 overall. Freedom also is 1-3, 1-3.
River Kelly led the Wolverines with 153 yards on 11 carries. Nick Ioanilli added 134 yards on 14 totes and D.J. Barrett checked in with 98 yards on 11 tries.
Ellwood finished with 431 yards rushing to Freedom’s 36.
Barrett opened the scoring with a 16-yard run and Ioanilli added a 46-yard scamper. River Kelly’s 40-yard run closed the first-quarter scoring at 20-0.
A 33-yard Justin Baney field goal, followed by a 14-yard TD run by Ioanilli and a 6-yard burst by Barrett increased the lead to 37-0 at the half.
Ioanilli scored once more, on a 1-yard run in the third quarter and Norman Ballard’s 35-yard fumble return.
Ellwood travels to Burgettstown for a nonconference game Friday.
