The Wilmington High football team never gave Reynolds a chance last night.
The Greyhounds jumped out to a 50-0 halftime lead and never looked back in a 64-0 rout of the visiting Raiders.
Wilmington, which is chasing their second straight state championship, are 4-1 in District 10, Region 3-AA, 6-1 overall.
Reynolds slipped to 1-3 and 1-6.
Senior Derrick Burns scored twice in the first quarter on runs of 23 and 3 yards. He added another 5-yard TD run and finished with 106 yards rushing on six carries.
Jake DeMedal scored on a 63-yard punt return and an 8-yard run from his quarterback slot. Wilmington also got touchdowns from Sutton Whiting (44 yards), Gunnar Donati (24 yards), Curtis Bretz (27 yards) and Zak Llewellyn (8 yards).
Bryce Wilson kicked eight PATs and DeMedal ran in the ninth.
The mercy rule kicked in after the half and Wilmington head coach Terry Verrelli began to unload his bench. Midway through the fourth quarter, he began to tell his team to take a knee rather than expand the score.
