McDougal leads Laurel past Derry

Jake McDougal kept throwing the ball and the Laurel High football team kept scoring.
The senior quarterback threw for 308 yards and five touchdowns in the Spartans’ 40-0 nonsection victory at Derry.
Jordan Dantico was the main benefactor of McDougal’s big day, catching touchdowns of 11, 9 and 64 yards while totaling a team-high 141 yards on eight catches.
Jesse Pacifico and Isici Layne added a touchdown reception each of 30 and 36 yards, respectively. Layne finished with 99 yards on eight catches and Pacifico reeled in two receptions for 47 yards.
Laurel (2-2) only scored 12 points in the first half, but exploded for 22 tallies in the third quarter.
The Spartans totaled 490 yards of offense and held the Trojans (1-3) to 164 yards in the shutout.
Colton Palmer scored the final touchdown with a fumble recovery in the end zone.
