’Hounds tune up for showdown at Sharon

The Wilmington High football team controlled the clock in a 20-0 District 10, nonregion shutout of Sharpsville last night.
The Class AA Greyhounds (5-2) had possession of the ball for more than 30 minutes of the 48-minute game. The Class A Blue Devils slipped to 4-3.
Wilmington took a 7-0 lead into halftime on a 7-yard run by Jacob Sotter. Kyler Lum added the point-after kick.
The host Greyhounds added two fourth-quarter touchdowns, first on a 1-yard run by Josiah Bloise, with a James Gardner PAT kick and finally on an 8-yard pass to Sotter from quarterback Cody Llewellyn.
Bloise led Wilmington with 55 yards rushing on 17 carries, Sotter added 44 on four tries and Spencer DeMedal chipped in with 33 on six attempts.
The Greyhounds’ next game is Friday’s District 10, Region 3-AA showdown at Sharon. The game has major playoff implications for both teams since Sharon and Wilmington enter the game in a three-way tie for third place with Grove City at 3-2 in the region.
