A rough start to the season got rougher for the Ellwood City Lincoln High football team on Friday night.
The Wolverines suffered their third loss of the season, 42-7, in WPIAL Class 3A Beaver Valley Conference action at Beaver Falls.
Ellwood (0-3 conference, 0-3 overall), which had scored just three times this season, has lost five straight to the Tigers.
Beaver Falls is 1-1 and 2-1.
The Wolverines hung tough for a quarter, going into the second period in a 0-0 deadlock. But the Tigers scored two touchdowns in each of the final three periods to cement the win.
Neshaud Akins scored on runs of 18, 30 and 15 yards for Beaver Falls.
Toby Kelly scored Ellwood's lone TD on a 15-yard pass from Jordan Recce. Johnathan Jefferson tacked on the point-after kick.
