Shenango falls to Jeannette in playoff opener

The Shenango High football team was no match for perennial WPIAL powerhouse Jeannette in the opening around of the WPIAL Class 1A playoffs Friday night.
The Wildcats dropped a 39-0 decision to Jeannette at the Jayhawks' field.
Third-seeded Jeannette (10-1) opened up a 12-0 lead after one quarter and expanded it to 32-0 at the half. The Jayhawks scored another TD in the third period to finalize the score.
Shenango, the No. 14 seed, ended its season at 4-6.
Ryan Swinton opened the scoring with a 65-yard touchdown run. Kareem Hall scored three times, on runs of 59, 13 and 1 yards. Robert Kennedy scored on runs of 29 and 5 yards.
Bret Hoover was Shenango's leading rusher with 24 yards on five carries. Sam Miloser had six tackles on defense and Hoover, Matt McMillen and Isaiah Taylor five each.
Maxwell Reamer was 7 of 14 through the air for 80 yards with two interceptions.
Jeannette plays Springdale, a 50-44 winner over Carmichaels, in the quarterfinals.
