Ellwood unable to keep pace with Central Valley

The Ellwood City Lincoln High football team was no match for Central Valley on Friday night.
The visiting Wolverines fell behind by three touchdowns early and settled for a 34-6 loss to Central Valley in a WPIAL Class 3A Beaver Valley Conference game.
Ellwood City was in its season opener. Central Valley is now 1-0 in the conference, 1-1 overall.
Danny Santia scored on an 8-yard run and hauled in a 66-yard pass from Nico Battisti to stake the Warriors to a quick 14-0 lead. Kevin Anderson returned a fumble 29 yards to expand the margin to 21-0.
The Wolverines finally broke into the scoring column in the third quarter with a 30-yard pass from Jordan Recce to Luca Botti.
Richard Pitrelli led Ellwood in rushing with 56 yards on 15 carries. Recce was 8 of 17 through the air with one interception for 67 yards.
The Wolverines host Hopewell on Friday night.
