The Ellwood City Lincoln High football team got in an early hole and was unable to recover in a 53-8 Midwestern Athletic Conference loss at Aliquippa.
The Wolverines trailed 53-0 at the half Friday night before they mustered their only touchdown on a 43-yard fumble return by Angelo Battaglia, followed by a Richard Pitrelli conversion run.
Ellwood City (0-3 conference, 0-3 overall) had just 118 total yards to the Quips’ 342 and also had three interceptions and lost two fumbles.
D.J. Barrett was the leading rusher for the Wolverines with 31 yards on six carries.
Ellwood hosts Freedom on Friday night in MAC action.
